Baby Dee (us)

Baby Dee föddes i Cleveland, Ohio och älskade att spela piano redan som barn. Den professionella karriären började i New York, i Central Park, där Dee utklädd till björn spelade på sin harpa. Hon, som föddes som en han, kunde inte spela speciellt väl på den tiden, men publiken ”tenderar att vara mindre kritisk när man är utklädd till björn”…

Efter en period i Paris lämnade Dee björnkostymen åt sitt öde och flyttade tillbaka till New York. Där, på underground- och kabaréscenen, mötte hon Antony, han med The Johnsons. De blev goda vänner och Antony fick Baby Dee att våga spela sina egna låtar live. Sedan dess har Dee fortsatt att skriva musik och turnera, med bil, tåg och båt (harpan får inte plats annars).

Förra albumet "Safe Inside The Day" som producerades av Will Oldham rönte ohyggliga kritikerframgångar och omnämndes av Mojo som en "masterpiece in visionary music”, Vice beskrev Dee som “a voice like an angel who fell from heaven”  och Q kallade albumet "Life-affirming". Det nya albumet Book of Songs har arrangerats tillsammans med Maxim Moston och är, precis som föregående album, alldeles omöjligt att peta in i ett musikaliskt fack. Gott så.
